FDA Registered Facility
We are a small FDA-registered manufacturing facility located in Valparaiso, Indiana. Yes, we make all of our products ourselves and do not use a third-party copacker. In addition to the FDA, we are also inspected regularly by the Indiana State Department of Health.
From washing and chopping fresh ingredients to hand packing all of our products. We control and oversee every step to ensure safety and quality to prevent food-borne illnesses. Why? Because our number one goal is to provide a high-quality product that's safe to eat.
Food Safety Plan
Our production facility operates under a comprehensive food safety plan that complies with FDA and Indiana State Department of Health regulations. There are checks and balances applied at each stage of production to ensure food safety practices are followed and adhered to. Employees are encouraged to "see something, say something" and stop the production process at any time if they see an issue.
Employee Training
To ensure that our employees are able to work safely and prevent contamination, we have a comprehensive food safety training program. This program covers best practices for handling food, including proper hygiene and sanitation procedures. It also covers how to identify and report potential hazards. All of our employees must complete this training before they can start working at Frozen Garden.
We have supervisors who are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) trained and certified. Supplier Verification Program
We know safe food starts at the source. That's why we have a comprehensive Supplier Verification Program to ensure all of our suppliers meet our high food safety standards. After passing an initial verification process, we audit our suppliers on an annual basis to ensure they are maintaining their food safety programs and protocols.
When not utilizing produce from one of our small local farmers, we work with long-standing distributors who help us source the highest quality ingredients. So while we may be a small business, we have some heavy hitters on our supplier team with decades of experience.
Recall Plan
In the event that one of our suppliers issues a recall or if we need to issue a recall, we have a comprehensive recall plan in place to quickly notify our customers. This involves detailed lot tracing from the source of the ingredient all the way to the customers the final product was delivered to. While recalls are never ideal, we understand and accept that a recall may need to happen to keep our customers safe and we will not hesitate to issue a recall.
Our goal is to notify our customers within 24 hours of a recall. Whether you were affected by the recall or not, we will be open and transparent with every customer of Frozen Garden. Your safety is of the utmost importance and will always take precedence over any financial impact.
Real Food for Real People
Over the past few weeks, we've gotten several inquiries from customers regarding our processes and ingredients due to the recent Daily Harvest recall and Revive Superfoods lawsuits, both of which left hundreds sickened by tara flour - a protein additive.Â
At Frozen Garden we're not about the latest and greatest trends or taking easy shortcuts. We like to keep it real - real whole foods that is! When we handcraft our Smoothies, Delites, Overnight Oats, and Garden Bowls we use actual nuts, seeds, and beans to amp up the recipe with high-quality protein.
